Dear readers,
It’s not your imagination. I have indeed been derelict in my writing. More accurately, I have been derelict in my duty of publishing essays for the subscribers of A Rare Bird, because I have actually been writing a great deal. Primarily, writing curriculum for a K-5 music program.
My duties as Music Program Director at a private school here in South Carolina has robbed me of my valued time spent bird-watching and pondering life. Yet, somehow I feel vastly richer in this new endeavor. I’ve enjoyed taking a deep dive into the basics and foundations of music and exploring how to communicate my lifelong passion for music to this next generation.
Therefore, I must hit the pause button on A Rare Bird for the time being. In fact, immediately following this post I’ll be determining whether I’ll be teaching the melody of “Frère Jacques” on piano or glockenspiel. I find the sound of glockenspiel and the theater of watching the mallets in action goes over like gangbusters with Kindergarteners. I guess I’ve already made my decision.
I have paused billing for all paid subscriptions to A Rare Bird. If you have paid for a full year and would like a partial refund, send me an email and I’ll refund you. If you decide to let me keep it, I’ll probably waste it on a bass guitar. Mr. Starlight needs to know how to play a little bit of everything.
Something's gotta give
